Until January 7, 2024 at the Palazzo dei Musei (Via Lazzaro Spallanzani, 1 Reggio Emilia) the exhibition “Let’s talk about me again. Zavattini between word and image,” dedicated to Cesare Zavattini (1902-1989). Subjectwriter, screenwriter, writer, painter and journalist, he is considered one of the “fathers” of Neorealism. With his overall work he made an original and lasting contribution to 20th-century Italian and international cinema. Drawing on the rich collection of Zavattini’s paintings in the Civic Museums and the documentary holdings of the Cesare Zavattini Archive kept at the Panizzi Library, the exhibition illustrates the substantial organicity and coherence of Zavattini’s work in his commitment to a reflection on his own self-representation and its transfiguration in the fields of writing and painting.
