For all cycling fans and not only in the Giro d’Italia 2023 there will also be a stage starting in Scandiano. It is the tenth stage, scheduled for Tuesday, May 16, 2023, which will then end in Versilia, in Viareggio. The route will also touch on other municipalities in the Reggio Emilia area before “trespassing” into Tuscany: Viano, Baiso, Carpineti, Felina, Gatta, Villa Minozzo and Civago, before crossing the Dolo and entering the Modena area.
A large starting village will be set up in Scandiano, where the public will be able to attend numerous side events and the presentation of the competing teams. As the mayor of Scandiano Matteo Nasciuti anticipated, “It will be a great party, free and inclusive […] a moment of celebration of a genuine and tiring sport like cycling in an ideal setting as the one represented by our city.”
In addition, since it is the Tuesday following one of the rest days on the event’s calendar, the caravan will be in Scandiano as early as Monday, May 15, effectively giving the city a two-day pink event.
